Laura Boldrini, a graduate in law from the University La Sapienza of Rome, began her career in 1989 in the United Nations agencies. She has worked at FAO and the
World Food Programme (WFP): From 1998 to 2013, she was spokesperson of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for Southern Europe. In February 2013 she was elected in the Chamber of Deputies. On March 16, 2013 she was elected President of the Chamber.
